Gail Garber has been the director of Hawks Aloft since its inception in 1994. She writes a semi-monthly column for the Jemez Thunder, often focused on birds of that region. She has also authored numerous other articles about birds of New Mexico. She is an art quilter, known for her bold geometric designs often incorporating the element known as "Flying Geese". She is an internationally recognized author, lecturer, and teacher.
